Laurie Wisdom moved to Santa Fe in 2016 from Fort Worth. “My work, and a desire for a healthy, natural environment brought me here, plus I was ready for change,” she said. “I fell in love with New Mexico over 30 years ago, having once lived in Taos. I am happy to be back.”
“I walked into First Presbyterian two Easters ago,” she said, “and felt this could be a place to be part of a spiritual community. And the people here are friendly!”
Previously a member of University Christian Church in Fort Worth, Laurie was a Sunday School teacher, and assisted with the Vacation Bible School committee. “FPC reminds me of St. Anna’s in New Orleans, which I attended with my father when I was a teenager. It was a comfortable, welcoming church like First Presbyterian is. All were welcomed. I felt like I belonged,” she said.
Laurie is marketing communications director for National Dance Institute New Mexico, a nonprofit that uses the power of art to “help children develop discipline, a standard of excellence, and a belief in themselves that will carry over into all aspects of their lives.” While in Fort Worth she worked as director of communications for Trinity Valley School. Laurie has two children and a granddaughter. “They are my greatest blessings,” she concluded.
