Lelah Larson was born at home in 1944 in Lebanon, Nebraska, and raised with 5 siblings on a nearby farm.  Her father was a dry land farmer who farmed approximately 2,000 acres in Nebraska and Kansas.  Lelah graduated from the Beaver Valley High School in 1963, with her dad’s only comment when she left home being, “Thank heavens.  I don’t have to eat half-baked potatoes anymore.”  Since then Lelah has lived in Colorado, California, Montana, Nevada, and Australia, and has made her home in New Mexico since 1988.  She retired from the Behavioral Health Services Division, Human Services Department, State of New Mexico in 2012.  She is currently serving as Board Secretary of the Pastoral Counseling Center.  She has volunteered at the Interfaith Community Homeless Shelter for approximately 5 years.
