Sharon Eklund moved to New Mexico in the early 1970s, and spent her first four years here working as a seasonal ranger in Bandelier.  Later, she taught English at Los Alamos High School and, after earning her MBA, worked as a certified project management professional at Los Alamos National Laboratory for 15 years.  She and her husband Bill then moved to Walnut Creek, CA, to work in the University of California Office of the President in Oakland.  They retired back in Santa Fe in 2010 when they joined FPC.

Sharon and Bill’s son, Aron, lives with his family, including two grandchildren, in Copenhagen; Susanne and family, including two more grandchildren, live in Los Gatos, CA; Alyssa and family, including two grandsons, live here in Santa Fe; and Hannah and spouse live here as well.

Sharon has found her volunteer hours at FPC to be very rewarding—knitting prayer shawls, serving as a Deacon, as former Elder, and chair of the FPC Personnel Committee.  She particularly enjoys volunteering in the public schools and helping second graders at Sweeney Elementary learn to read.
