Filming on the Caja del Rio

This past week Pastor Andrew (with the help of daughter Brooke) organized a film crew to interview US Senator Heinrich, Pueblo Governors, the Santa Fe Mayor and County Commissioners as well as community leaders. As a faith leader leading the coalition to protect the Caja and part of EarthKeepers 360, Andrew was interviewed about the spiritual, cultural and historical values of the Caja and why it is worthy of protection.

As part of this filming, Andrew led a hike of the Caja del Rio with the Senator, six pueblo governors and Tribal Council members. Earthkeepers also helped procure letters of support from the NM legislature, County Commission and City Council.

All of this work is being done in anticipation of upcoming federal legislation that seeks to permanently protect and responsibly steward the Caja del Rio. The Caja is an important part of First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe’s Easter Sunrise tradition.
