Reading the Bible can be a daunting endeavor. While some passages like Psalm 23 or the Parable of the Lost Sheep lend themselves to immediate understanding the Bible as a whole is an extremely complex book. How, then, do sixty-six books, spanning 1100 years, written in two basic languages familiar primarily by scholars, with multiple and anonymous authors, each speaking to a different context and often responding to vexing questions and volatile situations make any sense to us today? Let’s explore this question together and seek to more clearly see the wisdom it offers us for our own day.
