Watch Service, Dec 31
VIDEO. Sankofa is a phrase that encourages learning from the past to inform the future, reaching back to move forward, and lifting as we climb. Songs by Toni Morgan and a message by Madeleine Wright urge us to do just that.
Our guest Toni Morgan is a former background singer for the Empress of Soul, Mrs. Gladys Knight. She and her friends perform inspiring and uplifting gospel songs. Toni moved to New Mexico in 2013 and has done numerous concerts here, including the NM State Fair, NM Expo, Santa Fe Summer Series, and NM Jazz Festival. She also performed in the Santa Fe Soul Festival this past August.
Madeleine Wright, a member of our church, is the Chair of the Board for the Santa Fe Soul Festival, which educates the Santa Fe community about African American Culture and Arts. Madeleine is a recent recipient of Santa Fe’s “10 Who Make a Difference.” Madeleine is a retired professor of psychology, a nonprofit administrator, and dancer.
