Children’s Program, 8:30am, Pope Hall
John’s Gospel begins and ends with a miracle story. In chapter 1, at the wedding at Cana, Jesus turned water into wine and provided abundantly for the wedding guests. In chapter 21, he provided abundantly for the disciples who have returned to their fishing boats.
The disciples had gone back to fishing, perhaps because they needed to eat, perhaps because it was their favorite activity. Whatever the case, they’d fished all night and caught nothing. When Jesus appeared on the lakeshore, the reader knows it is him, but the seven disciples do not. As it dawns on them that it is the Lord, they haul in the nets and bring in 153 fish.
We will continue to discuss how Jesus is there to support, nourish, and teach them, as he has so many times before.
This coming Sunday the children’s program begins in our 8:30am service. After receiving a blessing, the children leave the service to do their activities. If you have any questions, contact our Family Ministry Director Jen Black.
