Jen Black

Family Ministry Director

Jen Black is a native of Chicago, Illinois, who relocated with her family to the Republic of Singapore where she attended high school at the Singapore American School. After high school, she attended Eckerd College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. In 2007, Jen completed her Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Science at Bellarmine University where she was inducted into the International Teaching Honor Society. She has worked with the Florida Wildlife Conservation and Florida Marine Research Institute as a fisheries field biologist studying and conducting laboratory research on Florida game fish. She has also worked with the Education Department at the Albuquerque Aquarium and Bio Park and at Eckerd College teaching marine and wildlife conservation summer camps. Jen has enjoyed teaching AP Biology and AP Environmental Science in both public and private schools in Florida, Kentucky, and here in NM. She was one of the founding teachers of the esteemed Medical Science Academy at Capital High School and won the City of Santa Fe Sustainable Schools Award for her leadership in creating and implementing a school-wide recycling program. She currently spearheads conservation work with spiritual leaders and faith communities through EarthKeepers 360. Jen is a seasoned world traveler who enjoys scuba diving and hiking and is an accomplished fly-fishing guide and angler.
