The Border—A Faith Perspective

Adult Ed, Sep 21, 9:45am

VIDEO. Whenever the topic of immigration is raised, most folks immediately begin discussing (or arguing) about politics or political solutions. As people of faith, we need to bring our faith values into this arena. The Rev. Dr. John Nelsen updates us on what is happening at the border and how our faith must shape our perspectives.

The people of God have experienced immigration throughout the Biblical story as well as helping immigrants throughout the centuries. In this class Dr. Nelsen gives an up-to-date report of what is happening at the US/Mexico border and how Tres Rios Presbytery Border Ministry and others in the faith community are responding. We also focus on how our faith impacts this topic, misleading narratives vs. reality, today’s global challenge, and ministry opportunities.

Rev. Dr. John Nelsen retired in 2022 as pastor of University Presbyterian Church in El Paso and currently serves as Partner Coordinator for Tres Rios Presbytery Border Ministry. Dr. Nelsen will also be providing our Sunday message this day.

Adult education classes are held in the McFarland Chapel and on Zoom between worship services at 9:45am.
