Long History of Mission

Published in The New Mexican

For decades, The New Mexican has kept up a tradition of celebrating 10 outstanding volunteers each year that seeks to raise awareness of their important causes and promote volunteerism in Northern New Mexico. On their list of the last 40 years, we spotted five current members of our FPC family—a long history of our mission.

The people we spotted include:

  • 1985, The Rev. Jim Brown, First Presbyterian Church
  • 2000, Julia Hudson, missionary teacher at John Hyson School in Chimayó
  • 2001, Betty Kersting, Habitat for Humanity
  • 2023, Madeleine Wright, Santa Fe Soul Festival
  • 2023, Bruce Black, Interfaith Community Shelter at Pete’s Place
