This Sunday we welcome the Rev. Dr. Amantha Barbee to lead us in worship at both services. She continues her theme of “Working with Wisdom” from her Saturday workshop, and she reminds us her sermon will be even more meaningful if you have engaged in the workshop. An accomplished singer, she will grace us with a song at the 11:00 service.

Biography
Rev. Dr. Amantha L Barbee is a clergy member of the Presbyterian Church USA, Presbytery of Charlotte. She holds a BA from the University of North Carolina–Charlotte, a Master of Divinity from Union Presbyterian Seminary–Richmond, VA, where she received the E.T. George Award for Excellence in Homiletics and Worship. She holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. Dr. Barbee served the denomination as a Ministry Engagement Advisor for the PCUSA and worked extensively with World Missions, PCUSA ministries, and denominational support. She was a program director in a women’s homeless center before pastoring three different churches in the denomination.
Dr. Barbee is the recent past chairperson of the General Assembly Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations. She is the recipient of the 2018 PCUSA Woman of Faith Award. She served on the Executive Board of Trustees for Montreat Conference Center, President’s advisory board for Union Presbyterian Seminary, the strategy team for NEXTChurch, and currently serves as a member of the board for Ghost Ranch Conference Center. Dr. Barbee is the past chairperson of the Charlotte Clergy Coalition for Justice (CCCJ). The 224th General Assembly voted to send her as one of two delegates to the World Council of Churches in Karlsruhe, Germany, marking the beginning of an eight-year term as a delegate to the World Council of Churches.
Dr. Barbee has extensive training in anti-racism and anti-bias models for people of faith and corporate America, and she is a trained personal coach. She currently trains sessions in multiple Presbyteries. She has led peaceful and challenging protests, and her work has been recognized nationally.
Dr. Barbee is a visionary and a creative force for multiple streams of fighting justice. She is known for her honest, practical, and pragmatic approach to empowering communities, congregations, states, and the country.
