Embracing Love

Children & Youth, Feb 16

This Sunday, both our children and youth will take a look at God’s greatest commandment (Matthew 22:34-40) and how it challenges us to embrace and show love. Jesus proclaimed that the most important thing you can do is to love. Love God, love yourself and all the people around you. After receiving a blessing in the worship services, the children and youth leave for their programs.

Nationally-known Composer and Conductor Brandon Boyd leads the 7th Annual FebFest Choral Workshop celebrating African American sacred music Saturday, Feb 8 at United Church of Santa Fe. The all day choral workshop begins at 8:30am and concludes with a concert at 4pm. You can purchase tickets to participate in person or online.

Dear Saints in Santa Fe, and other far-off places: Greetings in the name and spirit of Jesus Christ! There is some confusion of late (2,000 years or so) of what it means to be Christian. Let’s start with the basics, and a familiar adage:  “When Jesus told us to love our enemies he didn’t mean for us to kill them.”  Or hurt, berate, belittle, threaten, oppress, frighten, or imprison them. When Paul wrote in Galatians 3:28, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ” he meant it and we should stop making edits or excuses. Our culture has trouble with the “other.” Jesus didn’t.

First Sunday Luncheon

Our Food Fun and Fellowship team is serving Italian this month—traditional  lasagne with a vegetarian option, and Italian chopped salad with garlic bread. Please bring your favorite side (meatballs anyone?) or salad or dessert to share! After the annual congregational meeting (which follows the worship service), come down to Pope Hall.
