Heartbreak and Hope

IPL Fall Gathering, Nov 6, 5pm, ABQ

The orchestrated chaos, violence, and division we are witnessing in our country is heavy and heartbreaking. As we honor Native American Heritage Month this November, may we join our indigenous siblings and deepen our understanding of of who we are on this interdependent planet.

You are invited to attend the Interfaith Power & Light Annual Fall Gathering on November 6th, from 5:00-7:30pm at St. Michael and All Angels, 601 Montaño Road NW, Albuquerque, 87107, NM.

Our church is a member of the NM Interfaith Power & Light, and Pastor Andrew serves on their Board.

Read the full invitation below and consider participating in this supportive gathering:

Dear NM & El Paso IPL community,

The orchestrated chaos, violence, and division we are witnessing in our country is heavy and heartbreaking. As we enter into a month steeped in traditions of honoring and harvesting the abundance of the earth, it is profoundly disorienting and disturbing to have our own government choose a false reality of scarcity, leaving millions of people without access to the food they need to survive.

Amidst the overwhelm of these times, may we let the earth return us over and over again to what is actually true. Beauty surrounds us. Abundance surrounds us. Abundance is our birthright. There is, and always has been, enough for everyone not only to survive, but to thrive.

As we honor Native American Heritage Month this November, may we join our indigenous siblings who have been speaking reality back into the unrealities of colonialism and capitalism for hundreds of years. May we hear that balance, abundance, and reciprocity are the deepst laws of life, not greed or scarcity or the impulse to take too much and give nothing back in return.

May we offer gratitude for the ways indigenous peoples on Turtle Island and all over the planet have and continue to keep alive the hope of who humans already are and can more fully become on this good earth: people who care for the earth and know that the earth cares for us.

As we deepen into understandings of who we are on this interdependent planet, we want to invite you to our Annual Fall Gathering (see flyer below). During the evening, we will hear from local environmental journalist Laura Paskus, among other inspiration, fun, food, and singing in community!

We hope to see you there!

In gratitude and hope,
Rev. Clara Sims, Assistant Executive Director
