Las Cantantes, UNM Women’s Ensemble, is a select group of women who come from all areas of the Albuquerque campus. They perform masterpieces of the treble voice repertoire and sing acapella and with different types of instrumental ensembles. Highlights include touring in 2009, 2012, 2014 to New York City; working with music legends Alice Parker, Morten Lauridsen, Andrew Carter and Cecilia McDowall; in recent years making 3 recordings with the RavenCD label which have all received favorable reviews in The American Organist, The Diapason, and The American Record Guide; broadcast on Nation Public Radio (NPR) stations across the country.
Dr. Maxine Thevenot is the director of this ensemble, since 2007.
