My Peace I Give To You

Children & Youth, May 25, 8:30 & 11am

This week we read John 14: 23-29. In this story Jesus says that he gives his peace to the disciples. We remember Jesus’s words during each service when we pass the peace and we shake hands or give hugs and say, “Peace be with you.” After receiving a blessing in the worhsip services, the children and youth leave for their activities.

Jesus knew that he would not always be with the disciples or with us. He would be going to be with God in heaven. Jesus also knew that sometimes the disciples might get scared because there are scary things in the world. Jesus reminds us that we have each other to help us remember that we are never truly alone.  When we remember Jesus’s words during each service when we pass the peace, we do this to remind ourselves that we are not alone! We have this whole community around us!
