MSJ Event, May 14, 6pm
On Wednesday, May 14, at 6pm in Pope Hall, Peter Nasir, General Secretary of the East Jerusalem YMCA, and Muhanad Al Qaisi, Director of the East Jerusalem YMCA / YWCA Joint Advocacy Initiative (JAI), join us to talk about the Olive Tree Campaign, which uses trees as tools for education and advocacy.
The olive trees give Palestinian farmers a sustainable livelihood and help keep hope alive! Many members of FPCSF have accompanied Palestinian farmers to plant olive trees in the spring and to harvest olives in the fall as part of this campaign. Olive trees are a symbol of peace, prosperity, and wisdom, like the pictured 5,500-year-old tree from the Palestinian village of Al Walaja near Bethlehem.
Our Mission and Social Justice Committee hope you will join us in welcoming these two guests and learning more about this important initiative. Light refreshments will be served.
