Poverty: Not Just for the Poor

During March the Acts II, Adult Education program took a deep look at poverty in our area and explore the question of What can we, should we do? See videos of these classes below.

Classes include:

  • March 5. Food Insecurity and Homelessness. Food Depot’s Amanda Bregel and the Coalition to End Homelessness’ s retired Director Hank Hughes will talk about these two aspects of poverty. What is being done and what can we, as a church and individuals do?
  • March 12. Biblical Responses to Poverty. There are over 2,000 references to poverty in the Bible. Members of the congregation will be sharing their responses to a few of these verses.
  • March 19. What is the PC(USA) doing to address poverty? What has our own church done to try to meet the needs of the poor? Mission and Social Justice Chair Judy Crawford will talk about the various programs and their long history.
  • March 26. Virtual Mission Fair. Are you curious about what local agencies are doing to improve the lives of the poor in Santa Fe? What  do the names—Sky Center, Esperanza, Solace, Interfaith Shelter—mean to you? Join Adult Ed this Sunday to find out more about agencies that First Presbyterian funds through your generosity.

This continues our series on The Radical Christian Alternative.
