The Artists
Stephen Redfield (Violinist)
Violinist Stephen Redfield was a Starling Scholar with Dorothy DeLay and received a Masters at the Eastman School with Donald Weilerstein. A prize-winner in the Colman and Monterey Chamber Music Competitions, he has performed extensively as a chamber musician, on both modern and Baroque violin. Dr. Redfield retired from his university teaching position to Santa Fe, where he’s been concertmaster of Santa Fe Pro Musica for nearly three decades. Since then, he has organized MarketMusic, a Baroque concert series in the Railyard District. Stephen performed the complete Beethoven Sonatas to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birth anniversary. He’s thrilled to join David in returning to these first two.
David Solem (Pianist)
Born and raised in Washington DC, David holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Music where his teachers included Lillian Freundlich, Leon Fleisher, Shirley Matthews, and Peggy Haas Howell. He has over 42 years of experience as a liturgical musician, organist, and choral director. David has been a resident of Santa Fe, NM since 2010 and currently serves as assistant organist for First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe and as principal keyboard (organ, harpsichord, piano) for Santa Fe Pro Musica where he is also principal keyboard for the Pro Musica Baroque Ensemble. He has held all of these positions since 2014. An active performer in the northern NM area, David has appeared with the Santa Fe Symphony, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, and the Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble. He is in frequent demand as a recitalist, accompanist, and chamber musician. David combines his music life with his clinical private practice as a diplomate Jungian psychoanalyst.
