May 17, 11-1pm, Sanctuary
Local youth have been rehearsing, putting their musical talents together to perform in a concert to benefit CASA First. Many are members of the Santa Fe Symphony Youth Symphonies, and they will be performing the music of Saint Saëns, Ravel, Glass, Satie, Elgar and Queen, on strings, guitar, vocals, and a quartet. Support these talented youth and CASA First.
The concert is free entry and open to all members of the community, but in lieu of a ticket price they ask for donations that will benefit CASA First, an organization that trains the Court Appointed Special Advocates assigned to add some stability and to advocate for the foster care children in New Mexico. These advocates meet one on one with foster care children, their foster families and their social workers and write reports for the children’s court hearings. In addition CASA First trains other advocates to work with vulnerable youth, youth in juvenile detention centers, and young people experiencing homelessness. Proceeds from this concert will help fund these advocates to continue their good work with youth in our communities and thus build a strong foundation for our community.
