Dear Saints in Santa Fe and other far-off places: Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, who often shared meals around a table. Potluck: a communal meal to which people bring food to share. Merriam-Webster helped me with this definition, but they needn’t bother. Since my earliest memories I have been part of such occasions, always at church. I had a chance to pick what I wanted under no watchful eyes, go back as often as the food lasted, and usually ended up consuming sloppy joes and a vast array of casseroles.

Bending the Arc
We are part of that moral universe bending toward justice as seen by Martin Luther King Jr. But ours is not a passive role; we must do our part. Adult ed classes in February addressed racial justice issues and we heard from some very special guests.

A Just City
Santa Fe Mayor Alan Webber spoke on the topic of “What Does It Mean to be a Just City” at the Prepared by Men’s Breakfast on Feb 11. If you missed the breakfast, you can watch the video. The Breakfast will be resuming a more normal schedule so watch for upcoming events.

We now have parking all evenings and most weekends right behind our church in the upper level of the county parking lot. A new agreement with the county has made this available to our church. See the details.

When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir.” Remember this part of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech spoken sixty years ago this August, and 100 years after the Emancipation Proclamation?
