Pop-Up Event, Patio, Aug 23, 10am-1pm
As we did in 2023, First Presbyterian is collecting items for the Navajo Quilt Project. The last collection was such a success it required two trucks to take the items to the Sheep Springs Chapter House on the Navajo Nation.
There are a number of sewing and quilting groups under the supervision of Susan Hudson, an award-winning Dine artist and quilter who will use these supplies to make warm quilts for needy elders in their communities.
Throughout the summer we will be gathering fabric, quilting supplies and finished quilts to donate. Please bring clean fabric (minimum of 1/4 yard), thread, rulers, quilt batting, ribbons, and functional new or used sewing machines to the church and place them in the coat close. A box will be there and marked for your smaller donations. This is a perfect opportunity for you quilters and crafters to destash!
We will also welcome monetary donations to be used to purchase additional items for the Navajo quilters. To make a monetary donation, bring or mail a check to our church with “Navajo Quilt Project” in the memo line, or make a donation in our online special donation page, specifying “Navajo Quilt Project.”
On Saturday, August 23, from 10:00 am -1:00 pm we will have a pop-up event where you can drop off any of the requested items outside the church on Grant Avenue. If you miss this event, we will continue to collect items at the church until September.
