Calling All Seamstresses

Las Placitas Presbyterian Church is asking us again this year to help make simple Christmas stockings for immigrant children. Other donation options are available. If interested, contact Judy Crawford.

The Las Placitas Presbyterian Church has, for a number of years, prepared Dignity kits for the immigrants coming to shelters in Juárez.  In addition to sending a U-Haul full of clothing, food, hygiene products (Dignity kits), and other useful donated items each month, they made Christmas stockings for each of the children last year.

They are asking for our help in making them this year.  The simple pattern is made of felt and decorated in any way you choose.  The materials will be provided, but we need some seamstresses to work at home to do as many as you choose.

If you can’t sew, maybe you would like to buy small toys or books, or markers, colored pencils, or crayons at the Dollar Store on Cordova to stuff the stockings.

If you are interested in doing this, please Judy Crawford at judywaterlines@cybermesa.com or 505-660-2729.  Judy would like to deliver them in mid-October when she goes to Presbytery at Las Placitas.
