The Navajo Quilt Project

We are conducting a Navajo Quilting Pop-Up on Aug 23, 10am-1pm, to collect sewing equipment, materials, and fabric for Navajo quilters to use to make quilts for needy elders in their communities. As we did in 2023, First Presbyterian is collecting items for the Navajo Quilt Project. The last collection was such a success it required two trucks to take the items to the Sheep Springs Chapter House on the Navajo Nation. Join Esperanza Shelter in Pope Hall for a powerful screening of the documentary film, This is Where I Learned Not to Sleep, followed by a town hall meeting on domestic violence and how it impacts our entire community. As you may have already heard, the City of Santa Fe has ended the lease for Interfaith Community Shelter, also known as Pete's Place, on Cerrillos Road. A new company, Urban Alchemy, will occupy that space starting August 1st to operate the shelter and provide street outreach.
