Prayer Shawl Celebrates 16 Years

Newcomers Always Welcome

Last Tuesday (January 20th) our Prayer Shawl group celebrated the 16th anniversary since its beginning in 2008. The celebration included sharing a delicious Clafoutis with coffee, friendship, and discussion of where we receive our understanding of ethics and values as we live out our lives.

This group of dedicated women has made over 650 shawls to share with those in our congregation, our friends and loved ones who are going through difficult times and even times of joy and celebration.

Participants pictured at the celebration were: Sharon Marrs, Margaret Lyerly, Allice Tinkle, Juanita Thorne- Connerty, Betty Kersting , Tillie Perkins, Mary Ann Amos, and Leslie Goslin.

Those not available for the photo were Carolyn Minton, Jeannie Bowman, Malissa Hasslam, Sharon Eklund, Gale Wright, Karin Lerew, and Sue Hallquist.

The group is always open to anyone who wishes to join.  If you do not know how to crochet or knit, those in the group will help you learn. The Prayer Shawl gatherings are now held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 10 to 11:30am, usually in the Rendon Room.  For more information, see our Prayer Shawl page or contact Betty Kersting.
