Worship & Adult Ed, Sep 28
This Sunday we welcome the Rev. Dr. John C. Lentz, an ordained Presbyterian minister and our first candidate for Transitional Pastor. Dr. Lentz will both preach (see “Finding Pedernal“) and conduct our adult education class (see “What Has Faith Got to Do with It?“). We do hope you will join us.
The Rev. Dr. John C. Lentz, Jr., served for thirty years as Senior and Co-Pastor at the Forest Hill Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He is now studying to be a Transistional Pastor.
Born in Northern Virginia, John attended Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, and graduated with Honors in History. He attended the Yale Divinity School. From 1983-1988 John studied at New College, University of Edinburgh (Scotland) receiving his PhD in New Testament Language and Literature. His dissertation “Luke’s Portrait of Paul” was published by Cambridge University Press. After serving as Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Winchester, Virginia, John and his spouse Deanne (married 1986) moved to Cleveland Heights. Deanne has worked for the Hospice of the Shenandoah Valley, the Transplant House of Cleveland and served as Office manager at a law office. She loves to bake bread.
John and Deanne have three children: Jack (32), Meg (31) and Sarah (28). They love the outdoors.
