Grief Nest

Grief Groups, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 6:15pm

In January, grief groups continue to be offered to hold sacred space with compassion and empathy for those who are grieving. The Tuesday group is online. The Thursday group meets in the Rendon Room every other Thursday, starting January 4th. You must register as space is limited. Groups are lead by Joy Dyanne Stearns, Somatic Grief Specialist.

Invitation from Joy

For many of us as of late, the holidays have become the “season of grieving” not only for those of us who have lost a close loved one or family member but for all of us who have and continue to survive in these incomprehensible times of political, socio-economic, global and climate change.

“Each one of us has lived through some devastation, some loneliness, some weather superstorm or spiritual superstorm, when we look at each other we must say, I understand. I understand how you feel because I have been there myself. We must support each other and empathize with each other because each of us is more alike than we are unalike.”  ~ Maya Angelou

This is my invitation for you to slow down and take pause to give yourself the gift of your own presence for the holidays. It is also an opportunity for you to give the gift of your presence to be with and deeply listen to others. We will gather together to create community and a safe space to share our experiences.  With guided centering practices you will be given some resources for orienting to a sense of safety and connection in order to instill a sense of calm and inner peace to move gracefully through the holy days however you choose to observe them.

(These groups are “pay from the heart”, what you feel is affordable for you, and no one is turned away for an inability to pay.  If necessary, you may enter “0” in the “ticket price” to receive your Zoom link for online gatherings. If you are moved and feel so inclined you may pay more in order to support someone else to participate.  Please note that the in-person groups have limited availability and are reserved for those who are recently bereaved and FPC community members will have priority)
