Maundy Thursday Service & Supper

On Maundy Thursday, we gather in Pope Hall at 5:30pm for a special worship service commemorating Christ’s Last Supper and the commandment Jesus gave his disciples to love one another just as Christ has loved us. A simple potluck-style meal will be enfolded within the service itself, and we will share communion with one another around our tables.

For Good Friday, our own Chancel Choir brings us the Requiem by Mozart, a dramatic and haunting piece which embodies themes of mortality and divine judgment, balancing dark, operatic intensity with serene, tender prayers. A Truly New Mexican Easter

This Easter we gather at dawn as the original followers did that miraculous morning where the women went to the tomb of Jesus and found the stone rolled away and tomb empty. We join with the earliest Christians that honor this earth-shaking event celebrated as the sun comes up giving rise to a new day, a new reality, and a new life in Christ.

Will We Go After Him

Palm Sunday Procession and Ecumenical Worship

Following our 9:45am Palm Sunday Worship Service (see above), we will follow our bagpiper and process to the Plaza to share in the 10:30 Ecumenical Service with the Cathedral Basilica and Church of the Holy Faith. After walking back from the service, we enjoy fellowship, pastries, and cupcakes in Pope Hall.

Filming on the Caja del Rio
This past week Pastor Andrew (with the help of daughter Brooke) organized a film crew to interview US Senator Heinrich, Pueblo Governors, the Santa Fe Mayor and County Commissioners as well as community leaders. As a faith leader leading the coalition to protect the Caja and part of EarthKeepers 360, Andrew was interviewed about the spiritual, cultural and historical values of the Caja and why it is worthy of protection.

Earthkeepers 360 Fly Fishing

Last week, EarthKeepers 360 hosted a three-day veterans’ fly fishing retreat on the world-renowned San Juan River Quality Waters near Navajo Dam, New Mexico. Five veterans and three faith leaders gathered for time on the river and an opportunity to step away from the pressures of daily life, build community, and experience the quiet healing that comes from being outdoors.

FPC Leads Interfaith Vigil in Solidarity with Minneapolis and Immigrant Community
VIDEO. The Interfaith Vigil for Minnesota, which was held at our church on January 29th, drew over 300 people and was reported in six news outlets as of this writing. The sanctuary was filled and many people were in an overflow room, with 45 watching the livestream.

A statement in memory of Renee Nicole Good
The Presbyterian Office of Public Witness has released a statement on the death of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old Presbyterian woman whose fatal shooting by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer last week in Minneapolis has sparked protests around the country. The statement mourns her death and affirms the right to “peaceful protest and lawful observation” without the threat of deadly government responses.

On Tuesday evening, January 13, at 6pm, individuals from across the Presbytery of Santa Fe are again invited to an alternative worship service focusing on the political realities in our country. This one will be hosted at St. Andrew Presbyterian church in Albuquerque and is also available via St. Andrew’s livestream.

The Meaning of Baptism

This Sunday, we will be exploring the sacrament of baptism. The children will learn about the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist and about the meaning of baptism today. Children and youth begin their program in the worship services, and after receiving a blessing, they leave for their activities.

The church Tuesday evening ukulele group is welcoming new members, and singers since we also sing while strumming! You’ll either need a ukulele and the ability to strum a few basic chords (three is plenty) or be prepared to sing along or just observe.

Worship Services
Worship and Music is seeking ushers for our worship services, both for Christmas Eve and beginning in January for the 4th Sunday of the month team. It’s a good way to have the chance to greet other members and to be the face of welcome to our visitors.
Bottle Caps to Benches
Recycling Collection Project
This summer we helped the Santa Fe Rotary Club collect enough plastic bottle caps to create two beautiful park benches for Tierra Nueva Counseling Center. With such great success, we are bringing back the bottle cap drive and this time we will be providing new park benches to counseling centers in Los Alamos.
